Adventure Safari Accommodation
Genuine adventure with home comfort sums up our approach to our more active safaris. If you’re going to walk through the Great Rift Valley with masai guides and camels the experience is all the better if you get a good night’s sleep in a comfortable tent on a good bed after a delicious dinner. Wake in the morning and you find the cook has been baking fresh bread in a wood stove and you have hot fresh coffee. Ham and eggs sizzle on the skillet. The great thing is that this all happens miles from “civilization” right out among the giraffes and leopards.
The success of an adventure safari depends upon expert guides and support people who know what they’re doing and who know how to have fun! At Africa Exclusive we’ve spent 22 years working the best people in the safari business. They have passion, and inexhaustible love for what they do, allied with a commitment to the highest standards of service.
One of our favorite adventure locations is Old Mondoro lodge overlooking the Zambezi river. It’s the only place for miles Four comfortable cottages sit under beautiful old trees just 60 yards from the river. You can be sitting by the Zambezi, chatting with your guide, watching the fish eagles when you notice that a couple of elephant have wandered silently to within a stone’s throw on their way to splash about in the river. Old Mondoro just blends into the scenery and the animals treat it as though it isn’t there. It’s a superb place for a long fascinating bush walk, or to fish for fighting tiger fish, or to take a lazy canoe ride downstream. You won’t want to leave!
Macatoo Camp in Botswana is another great place. A comfortable small camp in the beautiful Okavango and one of the best horseback camps in Africa. The quality of the horses satisfy the most discerning riders and there are plenty of other activities for non riders. If you stay a little longer they can arrange for you to ride out into an even more remote part of the reserve camping out, eating under the stars and taking it in turn to watch the horses. What an adventure! Out in the wilds yet with a great food, cotton sheets and wonderful company.
You can go river rafting, microlighting, elephant back riding, mountain biking, quadbiking, ballooning – from some of the greatest little camps hidden away in big game country.
